Quinnipiac University Hamden, CT Medical School: New York’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Old Westbury, NY Residency/Internship: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA Dr.Franco was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a traditional rotating internship and a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. From a young age, Dr.Franco had a passion for medicine and athletics. She attended undergraduate at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut where she majored in biological sciences and played Division-I Field Hockey. As captain, she was voted Most Valuable Player her junior and senior year, held the team record for assists and was a Division-I Academic All-American. Dr. Franco’s specialty, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, involves a team approach to preventive medicine and recovery of function lost through illness or injury. During residency, Dr.Franco became certified in medical acupuncture through the University of California. She also became an active participant with the Philadelphia Quadriplegic Rugby team. In 2008, she was part of a medical mission to Santiago, Chile where she helped train local PM&R physicians in traditional North American rehabilitation medicine. Patients of Dr. Franco will benefit from her background in athletics, training in osteopathic medicine, residency in PM&R, medical acupuncture and commitment to general health. Dr.Franco offers a fresh perspective for patients at any level to improve performance and quality of life. |
